Hi Members,

I hope this finds many of you preparing your boats for a social distancing cruise on the water! We are all blessed to be able to escape the tensions in our lives surrounding the Corona pandemic by spending time in, on, or around our boats.

As you are aware from the May First Watch, all chapter events through June have been postponed or cancelled. Additionally, with the Board’s agreement, Rob Kidd and the folks at Old Forge made the decision to cancel their Fulton Chain Rendezvous on July 10-11th.

Thank you to all members who were part of the very well attended Board Meeting on June 1st to discuss the remainder of our season. My apologies to members who had difficulty logging in to that meeting, due to a ZOOM software glitch requiring a password. Please see the attached meeting minutes. In summary, I have had numerous discussions with the mayor of Lake George, the State, Dan and Stacy at ACBS, as well as our insurance company regarding how to proceed with the remaining seasonal events. A  tough decision needed to made, and though we very much wanted to try and support our local businesses and continue with our Summer events, the safety and wellbeing of our members and attendees is paramount. Additionally, after learning that the Insurance carrier for ACBS would likely not cover these events, we regret we had no option but to cancel  or postpone the following:

June 27th         Old Forge Keels or Wheels Gathering

July 10-11th       Fulton Chain Rendezvous at Old Forge, NY

August 8th       Shooting Star 90th Birthday Party at the Becker’s Home

August 28-29th Lake George Rendezvous at LG Village

We are optimistic that we can reschedule several of the Keels or Wheels Gatherings and workshops as the regions move through the Governor’s phases, and regulations lessen.

New socializing ideas were discussed at the BOD meeting, including but not limited to producing a virtual Boat Show, and possibly a boat cruise/parade on several regional lakes. If any of you have the time and desire to volunteer your ideas and organize these or any other socially distanced events, we welcome your enthusiasm!  Give me a call or drop me an email!

Continue to watch for emails, as well as for the monthly First Watch for regular updates.

Stay safe,

Ed Becker President Adirondack Chapter ACBS
